The first plenary session of the Second National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held at No. 625, Fude Lane, Nanchengdu Road, Shanghai (now No. 30, Lane 7, Lao Chengdu North Road). This shikumen building, constructed in 1915, served as the residence of Li Da, the then Director of the Central Bureau’s Propaganda Department. In 1959, it was designated as a ‘Shanghai Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit’ by the People’s Committee of Shanghai. The memorial hall is divided into the Second National Congress Exhibition Hall, the Common People’s Women’s School Exhibition Hall, the Party Constitution History Exhibition Hall, the Temporary Exhibition Hall, and the original sites of the Second National Congress and the Common People’s Women’s School. It displays over 300 valuable historical documents, artifacts, and materials, complemented by modern multimedia methods such as electronic page-turning books, electronic sand tables, ‘pointing at the mountains and rivers’ induction systems, electronic message boards, and inquiry systems, to authentically recreate the tumultuous early years of China’s founding. The hall is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-16:30; it is closed all day on Mondays. For more detailed information on visiting hours, please refer to the public notice at the scenic spot.
