Ti Lan Qiao Prison

Located at Hua De Road (now Chang Yang Road No. 147), the site was put into use in 1903. During the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, local residents constructed a bridge near the Xia Hai Temple, near the Xia Hai Pu, called Ti Lan Qiao, which is how the area got its name. Due to the prosperous Xia Hai Temple and the ferry to Pudong, it gradually became one of the main markets north of Suzhou River. In 1903, a grand-scale prison of the Public Works Bureau, commonly known as ‘Ti Lan Qiao Prison’, was built between Hua De Road (Chang Yang Road), Zhou Shan Road, Kun Ming Road, and Bao Ding Road in the Ti Lan Qiao area.
