Wusong Paotai Wetland Forest Park

Wusong Paotai Wetland Forest Park is situated to the east of the Yangtze River and to the south of the mouth of the Huangpu River. The park boasts lush flora, thriving trees, and a pleasant environment. Strolling along the wooden walkways in the riverside wetlands allows visitors to admire the river mouth scenery and enjoy sunset views. On clear days, visitors can even catch a glimpse of Changxing Island. Every March, the park is home to a large number of migratory birds. For families with children, the Yangtze Estuary Science and Technology Museum within the park is an excellent place for learning, and they can also experience a four-dimensional dynamic movie. The park also features a memorial square with ancient cannons from the Qing Dynasty and modern weaponry, a mine pit garden showcasing slag to reflect environmental protection concepts, and the park’s ‘treasure’—a piece of Antarctic stone collected from the Antarctic continent by the Chinese Antarctic Expedition Team. The park is open all year round from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Essential tips for visitors: 1. The wind at Wusongkou is strong; visitors should dress warmly and windproof during spring, autumn, and winter, and apply sun protection during summer. 2. From November to March of the following year, the eastern mudflats of Paotai are the best time for birdwatching, with mid-March being the main period for migratory gulls passing through the Shanghai area. Birdwatching etiquette includes: not wearing brightly colored clothing, moving slowly, speaking quietly, and avoiding startling the birds.
