Xifang Jingyuan

Xifang Jingyuan is located in Putuo Mountain, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province. It follows the Linji school of Buddhism and was originally established by Master Fusheng. Originally known as Xifang An, Xifang Jingyuan is situated on the southeast of Putuo Mountain, with the Western麓南海观音铜像 to its west. Established by the monk Fusheng in the late Qing Dynasty, it was destroyed by fire in 1920. Undeterred, Fusheng tirelessly raised funds to rebuild it. In the early years after liberation, monks Kaixian, Wuzhi, and Chilian resided here. In 1991, the Buddhist Association of Putuo Mountain undertook its reconstruction, which was completed by mid-1993 and renamed to ‘Xifang Jingyuan’. The east wing serves as a guest building, while the west wing houses the ‘Memorial Hall of Master Huie’ and the ‘Xiangguang Pavilion’.
