Xisha Marine Museum

The Xisha Islands have a marine museum established by the troops stationed on the islands on their own initiative. It is not only the marine museum at the southernmost tip of our country, but also a marine museum established by soldiers in our country – the Xisha Marine Museum. The troops stationed on the islands make specimens of some turtles that crawled onto the beach and collected shellfish and display them centrally. The Xisha Marine Museum is located on Yongxing Island. It was initially established in the 1980s. On New Year’s Day in 2001, the new museum of the marine museum was officially opened. After the expansion, the exhibition hall area of the museum is about 800 square meters. It is divided into eight halls such as the graphic hall, the sea stone flower hall, the turtle and lobster hall, and the marine fish specimen hall. It collects about 400 kinds and more than 3,000 pieces (pieces) of various marine specimens and picture materials. The museum displays many specimens of marine organisms. For example, the ‘horse’s hoof snail’ with a bottom like a horseshoe and shaped like a pyramid, the sea cucumber ‘plum blossom ginseng’ with flowers blooming like plum blossoms, as well as various fish specimens, corals and stone flowers of different shapes, making the entire exhibition hall full of beautiful things and extremely interesting. The specific business status of opening hours is subject to the opening situation on the day.
