Xiushan Island Mud Sliding Theme Park is situated at the northwest end of Xiushan Island, facing thousands of acres of gentle mudflats and backed by a provincial wetland nature reserve. The park is divided into three activity functional areas: large, medium, and small, mainly offering tourism projects themed around ‘mud’. The park features activities such as windsurfing in mud, barrel sliding in mud, mud competition, modern mud slimming, mud climbing, mud bathing, mud therapy, and mud fishing, with a rich, interesting, and thrilling variety of experiences.

The Lanxiu Cultural Museum is located in Beipu, Xiushan Township, Dai County. Its predecessor was the ‘Tianqu Garden’ root carving and bonsai exhibition art museum, which was renovated from an old residential compound dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is a traditional quadrangle building with a wooden and earthen structure, exuding an antique charm. The museum houses more than 200 pieces, including calligraphy and paintings by celebrities such as Xu Zhikang, Yang Jianwei, and Ni Zhuqing, as well as wooden furniture, bonsai, and root carvings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, truly reflecting the local customs, history, and changes of Xiushan.

The Xiushan Beach Cluster is located in the eastern part of the scenic area, consisting of three beaches connected end-to-end, forming a crescent shape with a gentle slope. The sea currents in this area are gentle, with many reefs and abundant marine algae. Various fish, crabs, and shellfish, such as swimming crabs, copper basin fish, and tiger head fish, live and inhabit in the reefs and sea areas here. During the transition from summer to autumn, schools of tiger head fish and other fish species come to the beach and reefs to spawn. Tourists can catch them by hand and barbecue them for a delightful and endless pleasure.

Changshou Zen Temple is a significant religious site on Xiushan Island, well-known in the eastern Zhejiang region. Near the entrance of the scenic area, amidst the green mountains, stands a group of simple buildings with green tiles and yellow walls, known as ‘Changshou Ancient Temple’. The temple is not large, covering an area of about 3,000 square meters, arranged in three parallel sections with three main halls on the central axis. The front hall is the Hall of the Heavenly Kings, and the main hall is the Mahavira Hall, with the same deities as other temples, the main Buddha Shakyamuni, flanked by Amitabha and Bhaisajyaguru, all standing figures. Behind the hall are three stupas, made of Wenling jade stone, containing the relics of three generations of Changshou Temple’s ancestors. The stupas are not tall, with a round body and a pointed top, exquisite and elegant, appearing spiritual and solemn under the cover of green mountains and trees. Generally, it takes half a day to a full day to visit the Xiushan Island Scenic Area, but if you wish to experience it in depth, you can also spend a few days wandering on the island.

Xiushan Island offers a complete range of fishing homestays and hotels, with prices that are quite reasonable. Staying in a fishing home and enjoying seafood is an extremely pleasant experience.

The island is open to visitors all year round from 09:00 to 17:30.
