Yuyao Museum is located at the foot of Longquan Mountain in the picturesque city of Yuyao, harmoniously combining ancient and modern architecture to form a unique landmark of the city.
The basic exhibition of Yuyao Museum is titled ‘Smoke and Water: The Home of Ten Thousand Families – An Exhibition of Ancient Yuyao Civilization’, which is divided into five main parts: the preface hall, Yaojiang Cultural Vein, Southeastern Famous City, City of Literature, and Yaojiang Melody. It displays over a thousand pieces of fine and representative cultural relics and valuable books from the Neolithic Age to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, including pottery, porcelain, bone artifacts, stone tools, jade, gold and silver wares, bronzes, bamboo, famous calligraphy and paintings, and rare ancient books, making it a dazzling array of high-quality exhibits.
The entire exhibition employs modern techniques, combined with visually appealing multimedia and scene arrangements, to showcase the colorful historical tapestry of Yaojiang culture from multiple angles and levels. It particularly highlights the long-standing Hemudu culture, Yue Kiln celadon culture, celebrity culture, academic culture, and ancient Yue culture of Yuyao, fully interpreting the humanistic charm and regional appeal of this southeastern famous city and city of literature, and deeply reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Yuyao.
Entering Yuyao Museum is like stepping into a treasure trove of Yaojiang’s cultural relics and a sanctuary of historical city culture, allowing visitors to appreciate the historical elegance while experiencing the long-standing and profound Yaojiang culture.
Full text: The museum is closed all day on Mondays throughout the year; from May 1st to September 30th, it is open from 08:30 to 17:00 from Tuesday to Sunday; from October 1st to December 31st, it is open from 09:00 to 16:30 from Tuesday to Sunday; from January 1st to April 30th, it is open from 09:00 to 16:30 from Tuesday to Sunday; on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day, it is open from 08:30 to 17:00.
