Zhouqiao Ancient Street

Zhouqiao Ancient Street, located in the urban area of Jiading, has been preserved since the tenth year of Jiading in the Southern Song Dynasty (1218). Within a thousand steps, it gathers ancient pagodas, old temples, and famous gardens from the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, which is rare in China. It can be called the ‘root of Jiading’ and is also a very popular old street. At the same time, the old street is also a tourist shopping passage connecting famous scenic spots such as the Confucian Temple, Hui Long Pond, and Qiuxia Garden. Zhouqiao, also known as Denglong Bridge, was originally built in 1245 with a single-hole stone arch bridge structure, facing north-south, spanning the Lianqi River, with 13 stone steps on the bridge surface from north to south. The bridge was rebuilt in 1998 and is now a cultural heritage protection unit in Jiading District. It is open all year round, 24 hours a day.
