Sergej Krylov currently serves as the artistic director of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra in a dual role as a soloist and conductor. Born into a musical family, he has won numerous international violin competitions, such as the Rodolfo Lipizer International Violin Competition in Italy, the Antonio Stradivari Violin Competition in Cremona, and the Fritz Kreisler Competition in Vienna. Krylov’s expressive musical talent, combined with his superb violin skills, showcases his unique interpretation of music, earning him the accolade from cellist Mstislav Rostropovich as ‘One of the five top violinists in the century’. The Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1960 by the renowned Lithuanian violinist and conductor Saulius Sondeckis, quickly gained international reputation for its exceptional musical skills and distinctive style. Making its debut at the Echternach Festival in Luxembourg in 1976, the orchestra received high praise from all sectors, becoming the first Lithuanian ensemble to appear in the West and subsequently entering the global music stage. Over the past six decades, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra has closely collaborated with many soloists, conductors, and choirs, touring extensively around the world, including performances at prestigious venues such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna’s Musikverein, London’s Royal Festival Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Paris’s Salle Pleyel, and Leipzig’s Gewandhaus. As ‘Ambassadors of Lithuanian Music Culture’, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra maintains a high level of excellence in their performance, with a repertoire that spans Baroque and classical music to contemporary compositions, and actively promotes Lithuanian music.
