Yuwang Temple

Yuwang Temple, located in the northwest of Yao Lu Li Village, Bei Zhengjing Port, Luo Tou Zhou, Jinting Town, Wuzhong District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is built in memory of the great Yu who managed the water disasters of Lake Tai. It is also known as Yu Temple or Shui Ping Wang Temple. It is said that Yu gathered various feudal lords on Yu Qi Mountain in the West Mountain Island of Lake Tai to discuss water control plans. With the entry of the three rivers, the bottom of Zhen Ze was stabilized, and the water disasters of Lake Tai were calmed. Yu was respected and beloved by the local people. In memory of Yu, a temple was built at the four cardinal directions of West Mountain Island. After the changes of history, only this temple remains. In 1986, Yuwang Temple was listed as a cultural relics protection unit in Wuxian County, and now, due to the adjustment of administrative divisions, it is listed as a cultural relics protection unit in Suzhou City. It is open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00.
