Built in the 23rd year of the Daoguang Emperor of the Qing Dynasty (1843), Zhu Gui Ci was funded and constructed by the local people to commemorate the heroic fallen General Zhu Gui and his soldiers. Originally named ‘Gao Jie Temple’, it is also known as ‘Ci Lang Temple’ and commonly referred to as General Zhu’s Temple. The temple consists of two sections, each with five bays, and a central courtyard. On the hillside behind the temple lies the tomb of the soldiers who fell in the Da Bao Mountain battle.

The former site of Zhengshan Temple to the east of the temple is now part of Zhu Gui Ci, covering a total area of approximately 5400 square meters. Inside the temple, there is a standing statue of Zhu Gui, 3 meters tall, made of fiberglass; a 40 square meter mural in the main hall, completed in August 1999. The exhibition hall of the history of the resistance against the British in Eastern Zhejiang and Da Bao Mountain, covering an area of 50 square meters, displays the history of the Opium War’s resistance by the people of Eastern Zhejiang and the struggle against the British in the Da Bao Mountain battle through images and text.
