Ancient Bell Park is located at the southwest corner of Huinan Town, by the Satellite River, and was originally established in 1982, covering an area of over 38,700 square meters. At the heart of the park stands a large bronze bell cast in the fifth year of the Longqing era of the Ming Dynasty (1571), with a mouth diameter of 1.1 meters, a height of 1.62 meters, a circumference of 2.8 meters, and a weight of 1.6 tons. This ancient bell is considered a treasure of Nanhui and is now listed as a key protected cultural relic at the municipal level in Shanghai. The park is named after this bell, and the amusement facilities in the children’s playground are quite affordable. The park features winding paths, paved with stone slabs and pebbles, and the layout and structure of pavilions, arbors, towers, bridges, roads, ditches, and channels, along with the architectural design of upturned eaves and corners, and the overall layout of greenery, all highlight the characteristics of ‘green tiles and white walls, bronze and ginkgo’, embodying a simple and elegant, serene and secluded atmosphere, reminiscent of the ancient charm and lifestyle of the Ming Dynasty, making it a classical garden modeled after Ming architecture. The park is divided into four major scenic areas: the Bell Pavilion, the Wen Yuan Hall, the Cang Zhuo Garden, and the Baby Village. Within the park, there are nine pavilions, seven bridges, including the Pan Long Island, Qi Feng Terrace, Sun Pond, Moon Lake, Mirror Pavilion, Zhen Yi Pond, Guan Chao Pavilion, Ting Yu Pavilion, Ju Xiu Hall, Zhen Qu Pavilion, and eleven curved bridges in the river heart, as well as an ancient boat and three corridors. The park is suitable for tourism throughout the year. It is open every day from 9:00 to 17:30.
