Bai Juyi Memorial Garden

Also known as the Tang Shaofu Bai Gong Temple, it is located in an ancient-style courtyard at the entrance of Shantang Street. A stone statue of Bai Juyi stands in the center of the entrance hall. On one side is the Shantang Qingfeng Corridor, where the bluestone stele carvings depict sixteen ancient worthies related to Suzhou, Changmen, and Shantang. The black and white carvings bring the figures to life. Inside the temple, there are some pictures on display, tracing Bai Juyi’s footprints in Suzhou and his contributions to the people of Suzhou. Behind the marble altar in the center stands a half-statue of Bai Juyi, behind which a large-scale handicraft named ‘Bai Juyi Repairing Shantang for the People’ has attracted many tourists to stop and admire. The opening hours and business status are subject to the actual opening conditions on the day.
