Established in January 2011, the museum is named ‘Jen Bao Bei’, which is a phonetic play on the Minnan dialect term meaning ‘very precious’, encapsulating the significance of ‘treasure’ in the context of microbes
The museum was founded with the intention of addressing the general public’s limited understanding and even fear and aversion towards the ubiquitous microorganisms in our daily lives

It aims to provide a deeper insight into the world of microorganisms, highlighting that not all microbes in the natural environment are harmful; there are also various beneficial ‘treasure’ microbes that are advantageous to human health
The museum is open all year round from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
