Butterfly Valley is located at the rear of the large and small Longtan Lakes in Yalong Bay. It is in a tropical semi-deciduous monsoon rainforest. The vegetation is rich and there are many precious dragon’s blood trees (immortal pines) and more than 360 kinds of plants such as Entada phaseoloides, Haegue, Cleistocalyx operculatus and others. Many of them are natural butterfly hosts, such as Passiflora foetida vine, Abrus precatorius vine, camphor tree, Ficus virens var. sublanceolata, Senna siamea, Cassia siamea, Clausena lansium, banyan tree, Nerium indicum and so on. Among the primitive and secluded tropical jungles, surrounded by mountains on three sides, a clear stream runs through the valley bottom. Naturally, there are tens of thousands of colorful butterflies growing in the valley. Due to its excellent ecological environment and reasonable artificial transformation, Butterfly Valley has become one of the unique butterfly gardens in the world where humans and nature are combined.
