The Cao E Temple was first built in the Eastern Han Dynasty. After going through many vicissitudes and several rises and falls, it has been rebuilt and expanded many times before reaching its current scale. The main buildings in the temple include the mountain gate, main hall, rear hall, Cao E’s tomb, Drinking Pavilion, Tugu Shrine, Shen Gong Shrine, Dongyue Hall, Yama Hall, and stage. Covering an area of more than 7,000 square meters, it is renowned for its grand scale, magnificent splendor, and numerous carvings and plaques presented by famous people. It enjoys the reputation of ‘the first temple in Jiangnan’. Out of remembrance and commemoration of Cao E’s filial piety, on the day when she jumped into the river to save her father, people from all over spontaneously gather at the Cao E Temple to carry out traditional commemorative activities. Over time, from May 13th to 22nd in the lunar calendar every year has become the customary temple fair period of the Cao E Temple, which is extremely lively.

Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:00 to 16:30.
