Da Yu Mountain is located in the Hui Bei Yang sea area to the northwest of Dai Shan Island, 24 kilometers east of Gao Ting Town. The island is shaped like a roaming shark, hence the name ‘Yu Mountain’.
Together with nearby Xiao Yu Mountain, Da and Xiao Chen Mountain, Yu Xing Nao, and about 35 other islands and reefs, they form the ‘Volcanic Archipelago’, with Da Yu Mountain being the main island. The sea area around Da Yu Mountain is vast, boasting a good natural landscape of small islands, and it is abundant in various marine life.
During the Anti-Japanese War and the Liberation War, the New Fourth Army’s Naval Defense Brigade and the East China Sea Guerilla Corps successively stationed on the island, leaving behind some heroic deeds and historical memorials that are worth singing about. Open all day from January 1st to December 31st.
