Daci Temple is located in the north of Xikou Town, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, on the coast of the East China Sea of the motherland. It is at the southeastern foothill of Xuedou Mountain and adjacent to Jiang’s hometown. The temple is backed by the mountain body, which is created by nature. It is shaped like Maitreya Bodhisattva with a big belly and is vivid. Facing south, it is close to the town by the mountain. It is quiet, elegant and secluded, with singing birds and fragrant flowers. It wonderfully cleanses the dust of the heart. The Zen realm is born naturally. Indeed, a natural lotus holds a precious temple, and the earth creates an ark for Buddhist devotion. The whole temple is built on the mountain, covering an area of about 40,000 square meters. With the ‘Daci Hall’ as the axis, it is distributed longitudinally in three rows. From the foothill to the top of the mountain, its main buildings include a screen wall, the main mountain gate, a release pond, a white marble statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, a corridor of Buddhist culture and art, the Heavenly King Hall, the Daci Hall, the大雄宝殿 (Mahavira Hall), the Medicine Master Hall, the bell tower, the drum tower, the Patriarch Hall, the Guardian Hall, the Great Vow Hall, the Great Compassion Hall, the Great Practice Hall, the Great Wisdom Hall, and the Dharma Propagation and Meditation Center. The primary and secondary are distinct. The two columns on the side are living areas and office spaces, symmetrical on the left and right. The overall building is made of all wood and consists of a magnificent group of Tang-style architectural complexes. The main design reflects the architectural style and momentum of the prosperous Tang Dynasty, and also incorporates the design techniques of Jiangnan gardens. It presents the wood craftsmanship that reached its peak in the prosperous Tang Dynasty vividly. People and natural scenery are harmoniously and cleverly integrated.
