Daitou Ancient Village

Daitou Ancient Village is located within Daruoyan Town. In ancient times, it was called Daituan or Daitugu. The terrain slopes from west to east and is shaped like a ship, so it is called a ship-shaped land. Daitou Ancient Village was built in the late Yuan Dynasty. It backs against Jiuluo Mountain with red cliffs as if dyed. Facing Wushan Mountain, it is lush and graceful. It is a village inhabited by people with the surname Chen by blood relationship. There are currently more than 1,400 people. Daitou Ancient Village takes the area from Chen’s Grand Ancestral Hall to Wolonggang as the central area. There are ancient buildings such as Chen’s Ancestral Hall, Jicui Ancestral Hall, Mozhao Pond, Fragrance from Mozhao, Yuhou Ancestral Hall, Qulu, etc. Built against the mountain, they are well-arranged and have distinct layers. Especially Huazhu Ancestral Hall (also known as Luban Ancestral Hall). Here, one can see the profound cultural connotations of local customs and traditions, and the pursuit of farming and studying for generations. The space formed by Huazhu Ancestral Hall, Yuhou Ancestral Hall and Wolonggang is free and meaningful with rich layers. Cultural landscapes and natural landscapes set off each other. The huge ancient camphor tree, unique well, and elegant bamboo forest make people linger and forget to return. There is a large forest on Wushan Mountain opposite. It is called a bird-sown forest. According to legend, the ancestors of Daitou attracted birds by providing food to beautify the bald mountains. The forest was developed from bird droppings containing tree seeds. The fields at the foot of the mountain are like a painting. Opening hours: From January 1st to December 31st, open from 08:00 to 17:00.
