Dengyun Tower is one of the ‘Top Eight Sights of Xuwen’, elegantly known as ‘Wild Goose Pagoda Mocking the Wind’. It is located at the intersection of Dongfang Yi Road and Minzhu Road in Xucheng Town, Xuwen County, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. The foundation was laid by Xuwen County Magistrate Zhao Yihe in the 43rd year of the Wanli era (1615), and the tower was completed and inaugurated by Magistrate Ying Shiyu in the third year of the Tianqi era (1623).
The ancients metaphorically referred to Dengyun Tower as ‘the writing brush’, expressing the people of Xuwen’s desire for a multitude of talents and aspirations for rapid advancement. The opening hours and specific business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
