Fengjia Night Market, also known as Wenhua Night Market, is located in the Xitun District of Taichung City, primarily along Wenhua Road, Fuxing Road, and Fengjia Road. It is one of the larger and more famous tourist night markets in the area. The market is renowned for its innovative snacks, such as octopus balls, sausage-wrapped rice sausages, crepes, chilled candied hawthorn sticks, lazy shrimp, kumquat lemon juice, and fried noodle bread, all of which originated here. The market’s consumption is characterized by its ‘value for money’ feature, which has become popular throughout Taiwan. For example, a 40 NTD bento box and a 50 NTD ramen bowl are both very substantial. The official Lin’s sausage-wrapped rice sausages are so popular that they have opened two branches at a single intersection, with customers still lining up. Octopus balls, which started at Fengjia Night Market, have won the hearts of locals with their affordable and genuine Japanese-style snacks. Abbott’s ice cream is low in fat, sugar, and calories, with a variety of flavors that are unforgettable after just one bite. Golden thief squid rice is a dish where rice is stuffed inside a squid and then fried until it changes color, becoming a popular night market delicacy. There is also the Dajia taro ball mixed ice with just the right tenderness of the taro and an appropriate sweetness, with the texture of red beans still discernible. The market is open all year round from 16:00 to 01:00, with specific business hours subject to the day’s operations. Accessibility services include barrier-free entrances. A tip for visitors is to buy one serving of each snack to try a variety, as eating just one or two items can be quite filling.
