Folklore Museum

Qiantong Village boasts a long history and profound cultural accumulation. This grand village holds a wealth of intangible cultural heritage. In order to rescue and protect these precious intangible cultural heritages, Qiantong Village began establishing a Folklore Museum in 2000. The museum collects ancient villagers’ living utensils, agricultural tools, handicraft tools, and folk crafts within the village, displaying them in a centralized manner to enrich the cultural connotation of the ancient village.
The museum is a two-story structure in the style of a Sanhe courtyard, with a majestic antique gate at the top of which is inlaid with the word ‘Guyan’, symbolizing the new scenery of the ancient village. The middle of the courtyard is paved with pebbles forming a ‘Five Interlocking Rings’ pattern, representing the five prominent clans of Qiantong Ancient Village. The ‘Five Interlocking Rings’ connect the five clans together, binding them in unity. The quaint Folklore Museum adds new cultural connotations to the ancient village, presenting a rich atmosphere of antiquity.
