Former Residence of Qian Zhongshu

The Qian family is a prominent clan in Wuxi. Among them, Qian Zhongshu is famous as the ‘Cultural Kunlun’. The former residence of Qian Zhongshu was planned and constructed by Qian Zhongshu’s grandfather, Qian Fudong, in 1923. The entire building is a traditional Jiangnan courtyard-style residence. The former residence adopts modern display methods and showcases the extraordinary life of Qian Zhongshu. It is divided into five parts: Diligent in Learning and Intelligent, reflecting Qian Zhongshu’s journey of learning; Hardworking and a Literary Master, reflecting that Qian Zhongshu is a scholar, professor, poet, and writer all in one, and has achieved outstanding achievements in literary creation; Erudite and a Cultural Kunlun, reflecting Qian Zhongshu’s contribution to Chinese culture and his painstaking efforts in writing millions of words of academic masterpieces; Renowned Globally and Inspiring Future Generations, reflecting the influence of Qian Zhongshu, an outstanding intellectual and scholar in the 20th century, on future generations; and Qian Shengwu Hall with Outstanding Talents Emerging in Succession, reflecting the glorious achievements of other outstanding figures of the Qian family.
Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday all year round from 09:00 to 16:30; Closed all day on Monday all year round.
