Green Island Park, originally the Ningbo Zoo, has been transformed into a combination of an amusement park and a botanical garden. The park is surrounded by water on three sides, with the canal lock to the east, the Yao River and the Yao River sluice to the west, and facing the Ningbo Grand Theater across the water to the south. Covering an area of approximately 5.4 hectares, the park resembles a peninsula suspended in water.
Upon entering Green Island Park, one is struck by the abundance of greenery, a rare ‘oasis in the water’ within the city. The park’s excellent ecological environment has made it an ideal habitat for birds, with frequent sightings of egrets dancing and resting here. The park is open all year round, 24 hours a day, with specific operating conditions subject to daily opening status.
