A popular urban park, Haikou People’s Park features beautiful scenery in its East and West Lakes, surrounded by coconut groves along the lakeshores and a splendid pavilion on the island in the middle of the lake.
Within the park, there is also a zoo where you can see various tropical and subtropical animals.
The park has recently added an amusement area, attracting a large number of children. Haikou People’s Park is divided into several functional areas including the East and West Lake viewing area, Martyrs’ Memorial Area, Tropical Plant Specimen Area, Quiet Rest Area, Orchid Garden, Animal Area, and Living Area. The Hainan Liberation Monument stands at the main entrance of the park, located on top of Daying Mountain, built in 1954 to commemorate the martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives in the long-term revolution on Qiong Island and during the sea-crossing operations. Inside the park, there is also a statue of General Feng Baiju and the Feng Baiju Memorial Pavilion, as General Feng Baiju was the core leader of the Qiongya Party organization. The park is open all year round, accessible 24/7.
