The Hainan Binglanggu Li and Miao Cultural Tourism Area was established in 1998. It is located at latitude 18 degrees north. It is located within the Ganshiling Nature Reserve at the border between Baoting County and Sanya City. The scenic area is located in a sea of more than 10,000 elegant and graceful betel nut forests. It is also surrounded by ancient trees and intertwined vines in a tropical rainforest. The planned area is more than 5,000 mu. It is 26 kilometers away from the coast of Yalong Bay and 28 kilometers away from the downtown area of Sanya. Binglanggu gets its name because there are layers of forests on both sides and in the middle is a betel nut valley that stretches for several kilometers. The scenic area is composed of seven cultural experience areas: Intangible Cultural Heritage Village, Ganshi Li Village, Guyin Miao Family, Field Li Family, the large-scale live-action performance ‘Binglang · Ancient Charm’, orchid cabins, and Li and Miao flavor food street. The scenery is beautiful. The scenic area also displays ten national intangible cultural heritages. Among them, the ‘Li nationality’s traditional spinning, dyeing, weaving and embroidery skills’ have been included in the list of intangible cultural heritages in urgent need of protection by UNESCO. Binglanggu is also one of the main event venues for the traditional ‘March 3rd’ and ‘Qixi Water Playing Festival’ of the Li and Miao nationalities in Hainan. It is full of cultural charm and is a ‘living fossil’ of Hainan ethnic culture.
