Hongyan Scenic Area is located in Dongchen Township, Xiangshan Peninsula, on the coast of the East China Sea. The scenic area covers an area of 5 square kilometers and is known as ‘China’s first coastal cliff and beach gallery.’
Within the area, there are rocky beaches, pebble beaches, and sandy beaches, including the only red sand beach in China, with varying widths and lengths, undulating gracefully. Additionally, there are more than thirty attractions such as Lover’s Rock, Guanyin Wall, and Four Dragons Entering the Sea, which make visitors linger and return. Among them, the Hongyan Cliff and Beach Gallery is an ocean landscape gallery and a natural geological museum, making it a golden coast for marine tourism that combines sightseeing, vacationing, hunting, and seafood delicacies.

The uniqueness of Hongyan lies in the combination of the majestic cliffs and the beautiful, colorful beaches, forming a unique marine erosion landscape for ocean tourism. It is part of the Lower Cretaceous Chaochuan Formation, which is a complex, diverse, and colorful volcanic sedimentary rock, mainly red with a variety of other colors, and with peculiar shapes and unique charm.
