Jiyang Lake Ecological Park is located in the southern part of Zhangjiagang City, 2 kilometers away from the city center. The planned total area is 4.41 square kilometers, with a green space rate of over 70%. The central water area of Jiyang Lake covers 1000 acres. It was an artificial lake excavated by concentrated soil extraction during the construction of the Yangtze River Expressway in 2000. This approach not only saved 2000 acres of farmland along the line and protected the surrounding environment but also played an important role in expanding the city’s scale, improving the living environment, and inheriting the ancient Jiyang Lake culture.
To the east of the park is the lakeside international luxury residential area. To the north are luxury residential areas such as Lijing Huadu, Jiyang Lake No.1, Blue Lake Bay, and Peninsula International, all built by the lake. The southwest delta will be developed into a large ecological community covering 1000 acres. The northwest part is a business and trade street and a financial business center. Along the South Second Ring, an artificial wetland covering more than 400 acres and about 1.6 kilometers long will be built. Jiyang Lake water flows into the wetland through an 800-meter artificial canal, goes through a 7-level wetland purification process, and then returns to the lake, completing the water cycle and water quality purification. To the west of the lake is the Mirror Lake Park, which has been built and opened with an ecological education theme, including a 1000-square-meter ecological education exhibition center. In the middle of the lake is Luozhou Island, covering 60 acres, which is a habitat for wild birds and animals to reproduce. To the east are the Holiday Park, Leisure Sports Center (golf practice field), Lakeside Plaza, Yayu Garden, and Open-air Stage, which have been built and opened. Opposite the plaza is a 100-meter music fountain. To the south of the lake is the built and opened water-side leisure resort area, covering 450 acres, rich in Jiangnan garden characteristics, and a good place for citizens to relax; the southeast is the Happy World, mainly for children’s entertainment. The park is open all day, all year round.
