Lalu Island, formerly known as Guanghua Island, is located in the center of the Sun Moon Lake reservoir
It was the early dwelling place for the Thao people and is also a landmark of Sun Moon Lake
The name Lalu Island means ‘Sacred Island in the Heart’ in the Thao language
As a sacred ancestral land for the Thao, out of respect for the Thao people, visitors are not allowed to land on the island
Tourists can only appreciate the facilities showcasing Thao culture and historical development from the floating walkways around the island
The island is open all year round, 24 hours a day, with specific business hours subject to the daily opening status
A must-see tip: Due to the large waves in Sun Moon Lake, tourists are advised not to stand at the bow of the boats when taking a ride in the park
