Lihu Park

Lihu Park is located at the northern end of the Lihu Bridge, leaning on the bridge and facing the lake, with a total area of 15.8 hectares, making it an important node in the Lihu scenic belt. Construction began in March 2004, and it was opened to the public just before the National Day of the same year. The park integrates the strengths of traditional gardens and European-style parks in its design and construction, creating a high-quality green space that combines leisure, gathering activities, and commercial functions, forming a tourism and leisure center.

The park is cleverly arranged with four major landscapes: ‘The Charm of Spring, The Grace of Summer, The Rhythm of Autumn, and The Stillness of Winter’, showcasing the beauty of the Jiangnan region through seasonal flora. Surrounded by water, the park is designed to follow the water’s flow and create scenes, with twelve small bridges enhancing the water town’s charm.

The garden within the park, named Shiyuan, is derived from the historical legend of Fan Li and Xi Shi boating on Lihu Lake. The garden is embraced by lush forests and bamboos, surrounded by winding paths and quiet streams, with a clear pool of water resembling a moon mirror, opening up a new realm. The four pavilions, Liuyun, Tianyuan, Yuehong, and Qinghui, are positioned to face each other, adding to the garden’s charm.

The Water Mirror Gallery, built around the water, is arc-shaped, 286.7 meters long, and combines Chinese and Western styles in a unique design. Inside the gallery, there are inscriptions of famous poems, paintings, and photographic works praising Taihu Lake from ancient and modern times, highlighting the rich culture of Taihu and the long-standing civilization of the Five Lakes. In front of the gallery, there is a pool of clear water with lotus and water lilies standing tall, their fragrance spreading far and wide.

The Water Top Ferris Wheel – ‘Taihu Star’, standing at 115 meters tall, is located by the lakeside of the park. Riding the Wuxi Lihu Ferris Wheel, visitors can not only enjoy the views of the Fairy Island of Taihu Lake and Luding Mountain but also overlook the city of Wuxi. After dusk, the Ferris wheel’s electronic decorations will change into beautiful scenes. This water-based Ferris wheel, together with the Lihu Bridge, forms the iconic architecture of Wuxi’s lakeside city and becomes a spectacular gateway to the Taihu New City CBD.
