Longhua Ancient Town

Longhua Town is a significant town located in the southwest of Shanghai, situated in the southeast of the district. It is bordered by the Huangpu River to the east, backed by the Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway to the west, leans on Zhangjia Tang Port to the south, and extends to Huarong Road to the north, with Zhongshan South Road to the northeast and northwest, covering an area of 8.08 square kilometers. The town is named after the Longhua Temple and Tower. It was part of Huating County during the Tang Dynasty, known as Longhua Village in the Song Dynasty, referred to as Longhua Pu and Longhua Li during the Yuan Dynasty, with the street market already taking shape. By the Ming Dynasty, it was established as a town. Longhua Town boasts convenient transportation, with 26 docks along the Huangpu River and Longhua Port, and 13 land roads. There are 10 public transportation lines operating within the town, making it one of Shanghai’s transportation and passenger hubs.
