Chao Yin Temple is located next to Ma Gong High School and was founded by Master Xiu Tong
In his early years of practice, Master Xiu Tong once stayed at the Bao Ming Temple in Keelung, where he had the fortune to meet the venerable White Saint who came to Taiwan and resided at Bao Ming Temple to preach the Dharma
Master Xiu Tong then took the White Saint as his mentor and completed the tonsure ceremony, officially entering the Buddhist order
In 1963, the land was purchased at the current site and the construction of the main hall was completed
In 1972, a three-story octagonal columbarium was built
Due to the increase in followers, the following year saw the initiation of a fundraising effort to reconstruct the three-story main hall
The resulting architecture is majestic and grand, making Chao Yin Temple one of the larger Buddhist temples in Penghu County
