Maoming Museum

Maoming Museum is located at No. 20 Renmin North Road, Maoming City. It is a comprehensive museum at the prefecture level, a base for patriotic education in Maoming City, and隶属于 the Maoming Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication. The museum currently has 20 staff members and is divided into several departments including an office, cultural relics department, exhibition department, public relations department, and security department.

The museum covers an area of 8,352 square meters with a total construction area of 5,690 square meters. It houses over 1,400 pieces (sets) of cultural relics in various categories. The basic exhibitions include ‘Historical Cultural Relics of Maoming Exhibition’, ‘Maoming Folk Customs Exhibition’, ‘Maoming Revolutionary History Exhibition’, and ‘Maoming Stone Mill Culture Exhibition’. The first and second floors serve as multifunctional comprehensive exhibition halls, capable of hosting temporary exhibitions of calligraphy, photography, cultural relics, science and technology, as well as various conferences and lectures.

The museum annually hosts around 12 temporary exhibitions and free appraisal events, attracting more than 200,000 visitors. Since 2009, it has been successively rated as a national third-level museum, a patriotic education base in Maoming City, and a provincial party history education base in Guangdong Province. The museum was built in the late 1980s, and its main building and functional settings are no longer in line with the demands of modern development.

Opening hours are Tuesday-Sunday from 09:00-12:00 and 14:30-17:30; closed all day on Monday; and during National Day, it is open from 09:00-21:00 with Monday closure (special opening hours will be announced on legal holidays and special circumstances).
