Pan Tianshou's Former Residence

When Pan Tianshou was young, he felt that he had no talent for doing official business. Only calligraphy and painting were still competent. Therefore, he deeply explored and studied poetry, calligraphy, painting, seal cutting and other aspects.

In 1923, at the age of 27, Pan Tianshou was recruited to work at Shanghai Fine Arts School and participated in the establishment of Shanghai Xinhua Art School, cultivating many students.

In 1928, he became the director of the Chinese Painting Department of the newly established Hangzhou West Lake Art Institute. His talent was appreciated by Wu Changshuo, who was already 80 years old at that time. Pan Tianshou was also influenced by Wu in art.

From 1955 to 1965, it was a decade of abundant creation and writing for Pan Tianshou. During this period, he served as the vice chairman of the National Artists Association. The Pan Tianshou Memorial Hall was built in the courtyard of the China Academy of Art with national investment.

To commemorate Mr. Pan Tianshou, Pan Tianshou Square and Pan Tianshou Middle School are built in the old urban area of Chengguan, Ninghai.
