Pantuo Rock is located not far to the west of Mei Fu An, composed of two stones stacked on top of each other. The upper stone is flat on top and pointed at the bottom, seemingly unstable in its center of gravity yet as stable as a rock, unaffected by annual typhoons, which is quite fascinating. Many tourists compete to take photos with it.
On the rock, there are the three characters ‘Pantuo Rock’ inscribed by the Ming Dynasty anti-Japanese general Hou Jigao. The character for ‘stone’ has an extra dot, which is said to have occurred when General Hou was inscribing the characters and the large stone swayed from side to side, on the verge of collapsing. He added a dot to the character for ‘stone’, and Pantuo Rock was then firmly stabilized.

Guanyin’s Lecture Platform and the Two Turtles Listening to the Law Stone are not far from here and can be visited on foot. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that in the evening, one can enjoy the magnificent view of ‘Pantuo Sunset’ while overlooking the mountains and sea here. The opening hours are all year round, open all day.

A must-see tip: Please do not climb on the rock when taking photos and pay attention to safety.
