It is part of the Ming Xiaoling Scenic Area, close to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, and features ancient sites such as the tomb site of Sun Quan and the Plum Viewing Pavilion for visitors to pay respects and admire.

The mountain boasts a rich variety of plum blossoms, with a tradition of cultivating plums spanning over a thousand years. Presently, there are more than 30,000 plum trees on the mountain.

From early March to mid-March (slightly varying each year) is the blooming season for plum blossoms in Nanjing. White, pink, and red plum blossoms of different varieties cover the entire mountain, creating a sea of flowers that are a feast for the eyes from both afar and up close, often attracting photographers to linger for a whole day.

The variety of plum blossoms here is also very rich. Out of the more than 300 varieties of plum blossoms found and cultivated worldwide, over 200 can be found here, including many precious species that are considered treasures among plums.

A particularly precious variety is called ‘Bie Jiao Wan Shui’, known for its strong fragrance and bright petals, with as many as 45 petals, and is considered the ‘treasure of the mountain’. Those who wish to see it can look for it.

The Plum Viewing Pavilion, located at the southern corner of Plum Blossom Mountain, is the tomb of Sun Quan. There is a stone statue of Sun Quan and a stone tablet recording the tomb, which visitors can go to see.

On the mountaintop, the pavilion ‘Plum Viewing Pavilion’ was originally the tomb of Wang Jingwei. After its destruction, a pavilion was built on the original site, named ‘Fang He Ting’. This location is very high and suitable for viewing plum blossoms, hence it is now called ‘Plum Viewing Pavilion’.

East of the Plum Viewing Pavilion is the ‘Jiangsu-Fukuoka Friendship Cherry Blossom Garden’, which has eight varieties and more than 4,000 cherry blossom trees, covering a large area. After the early spring plum blossom season, from late March to early April (slightly varying each year), the cherry blossoms bloom, continuing to charm the mountain with their pink hue.
