The stone inscription ‘Entering Samadhi’ was inscribed by Dong Qichang, a painter and writer in the Ming Dynasty. According to records, some cultural celebrities and eminent monks once took this path to meditate and worship Buddha. Baihua Nunnery, built in 1612, the 40th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, is one of the ancient buildings in Putuo Mountain. Many eminent monks and cultural celebrities once gathered here to recite poems, taste tea and enjoy the moon. There was once a ‘Zhenxie Spring’ in the nunnery, and there is a stone tablet inscribed by Shi Hao, a writer in the Song Dynasty. Now the historic site of ‘Zhenxie Spring’ still exists, but the spring has been abandoned; the tablet is stored in a resident’s place and is the oldest existing stele inscription in Putuo Mountain.
