It is said that the ‘Qi Family Army’ was stationed here during the Ming Dynasty. In 1881 (the seventh year of the Guangxu period), the garrison commander Yang Chunhe built a block stone fortification, which was 12 meters high and 34 meters wide; the remnants of the broken walls are still preserved today.

In July 1981, it was designated as a key cultural relics protection unit at the county level. In December 1989, it was included as one of the Haikongkou coastal defense sites.
