Qing’an Guild Hall, also known as the Zhejiang East Maritime Folk Museum, serves as both a temple for the worship of the Sea Goddess Mazu and a venue for industry gatherings.

As a paragon of modern wooden architecture in Ningbo, the Qing’an Guild Hall (Zhejiang East Maritime Folk Museum) features a longitudinal rectangular layout facing westward. The buildings along the central axis include the Reception Pavilion (Water Pavilion), Screen Wall, Palace Gate, Ceremonial Gate, Main Hall, Rear Stage, Rear Hall, Side Rooms, and Ancillary Rooms. Its unique architectural form, combining a palace and guild hall with dual stages, is rare in China, fully reflecting the dual characteristics of the Heavenly Queen Mother’s palace and the industry guild hall.
The museum houses over 1000 pieces of Zhejiang-style red-gold wood carvings and more than 200 pieces of brick and stone sculptures, showcasing the traditional carving techniques of Ningbo and representing the pinnacle of Qing Dynasty carving art in the Zhejiang East region. These provide tangible evidence for the study of Chinese carving art.
The Zhejiang East Maritime Folk Museum’s exhibitions primarily consist of five basic displays: the Mazu Worship Scene Display, Eight Murals of the Saintly Traces of the Heavenly Queen, the Mingzhou and Mazu Serial Panorama, Mazu and China Red, and the Ningbo and the Maritime Silk Road Historical Traces. In addition, the museum has hosted various temporary exhibitions.
