Qingyuan Mountain Scenic Area is located in Jinfeng Village, Youhua Town, Qingyang County, Chizhou City, a city known as an ecological demonstration city in China. It is 15 kilometers away from the county town and 30 kilometers from Mount Jiuhua, one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China. The scenic area covers an area of more than 6 square kilometers and is a tourist destination that integrates Buddhist temples, the Mountain of Five Hundred Arhats, caves, strange stone groups, maple forests, and nurseries, combining natural landscapes with cultural landscapes. The development and construction of the scenic area strictly follow the national 4A scenic area standards.

It is said that Qingyuan Mountain was once a single peak, later split into two by a deity, hence also known as Two-Part Mountain. There is a clear spring well in the mountain that flows continuously and never dries up, and has been regarded as a fairy water since ancient times, hence the name Qingyuan. At the end of the Song Dynasty, ‘Qingyuan Zen Temple’ was built here and still stands today.
Within the territory, the Mountain of Five Hundred Arhats is where the Tang Dynasty’s eminent monk Jindizang, upon his initial arrival at Mount Jiuhua, took the eastern route and rested here. He left divine traces on the stone mountain behind the temple, vowing that all beings could eliminate the troubles of the three realms and attain the rank of Arhat. Later, based on the color and material of the stone mountain, skilled craftsmen carved five hundred Arhats on it, making it famous. In 2012, on the 19th day of the sixth lunar month, Master Cijue, who was practicing meditation at Qingyuan Zen Temple, made a grand vow to close the retreat here for 18 years, which became a significant event in the Buddhist community.
Qingyuan Sacred Site is a highlight of the scenic area. The 2.8-meter-tall God of Wealth statue inside the cave has always been a sacred statue that people must offer to pray for wealth and prosperity. Opening hours: 08:00-17:30, January 1st to December 31st.
