Qushan Island

Qushan Island, located in the northeast of Gaoting Town, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang, is an enchanting and reserved pearl of the Zhoushan Archipelago. Here, one can feast their eyes on the windmill viewing platform, worship at Guanyin Mountain, gaze at the starry sky, and explore the mirage of the sea. The island is dotted with nearly a hundred power-generating windmills along its ridges, making the undulating ridges resemble a ‘Kingdom of Windmills’. At the windmill viewing platform, with the massive white windmills behind and the boundless ocean in front, the scenery is simply stunning.

Guanyin Mountain is a towering peak on Qushan Island, with several peaks linked like a lotus, and it is said that before Guanyin Bodhisattva went to Putuo to practice, he once stayed on this mountain for several years. The most magnificent structure on the mountain is the Jade Buddha Pagoda, which stands about 45 meters tall with eleven levels. The base of the pagoda is ten meters square, made of finely chiseled granite, with internal staircases that allow visitors to climb level by level, and each level houses two hundred jade Buddhas. The sky lantern at the top of the pagoda can be seen for hundreds of miles around, making it a major attraction of the Zhoushan Archipelago. Additionally, Qushan Island is home to salt fields, one of the main production areas for ‘Dai Salt’, and visitors can witness the spectacular large salt fields along the central coastal area of the island. The opening hours and specific business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
