San Chong Xian Se Gong – A Spiritual Sanctuary

San Chong Xian Se Gong, also known as the Temple of the Five Grains King, is recorded to have been established in the 20th year of the Qianlong Emperor’s reign (1755 AD) of the Qing Dynasty, and has a history of over two hundred and fifty years. It serves as the spiritual center for the people of San Chong City. The temple primarily worships the Emperor of the Divine Farmer, and also venerates other deities such as the Emperor of the Protecting Life, the Nine Heavens Fairy, the Emperor of Pangu, and the Supreme Taoist Ancestor. The temple hangs several ancient plaques from the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty. On both sides of the temple, there are quiet guest rooms that can accommodate 350 worshippers. Every year on the 26th day of the fourth lunar month, which is the birthday of the Emperor of the Divine Farmer, and on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month during the Zhongyuan Festival, the temple hosts grand sacrificial ceremonies. The temple is open all year round from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
