Sanya Dinosaur Museum, located at the southernmost tip of China, houses over 500 dinosaur fossil specimens, including those of birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish, as well as internationally renowned ‘Top Ten Discoveries’ fossil specimens. The museum is divided into six exhibition units and an outdoor experience area, featuring 13 themed exhibition zones. These include an archaeological excavation site reproduction area, a Jurassic immersive experience hall with a surround screen, a dinosaur fossil restoration viewing area, a dinosaur ecological circle, and a youth dinosaur research academy.
The museum boasts a strong sense of space and era, combined with technological and dynamic interactive elements to create an immersive experience. It is based on specimens and authoritative scientific knowledge, with a focus on telling the story of Chinese dinosaurs by domestic authoritative paleontological teams, creating experiential products that allow visitors to participate and interact with dinosaurs across time and space. The outdoor classroom space covers the Sanya Mangrove outdoor area, making it a new type of museum that integrates scientific education, research practice, and interactive experiences.
Opening hours are from January 1st to October 7th, Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 19:00; from October 9th to December 31st, Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 19:00. The museum is closed all day on Mondays during these periods. It is also open on National Day from 10:00 to 19:00 and closed on October 8th. Preferential policies include: Children under 1.2 meters (inclusive) enter for free; those above 1.2 meters (exclusive) and under 18 years old (exclusive) receive a discount with a valid ID or household registration book. Elderly individuals aged 60 to 70 (inclusive) receive a discount with a senior citizen card or ID; those aged 70 and above enter for free with a senior citizen card or ID. Disabled individuals enter for free with a disability certificate. Active-duty military personnel enter for free with valid documents, and veterans receive a discount. Firefighters and police officers enter for free with valid documents.
