Shandao Temple

Originally named ‘Taipei Branch of the Pure Land Sect’, Shandao Temple is located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei City. There are three exhibition rooms in the temple. The fifth and sixth floors are the locations of the art museum. The art and culture hall on the seventh floor exhibits Buddhist calligraphy and paintings. The various stone carving artworks exhibited on the fifth floor are mostly artistic masterpieces of Buddhist statues from the Wei, Jin, and Six Dynasties periods. They are intact after thousands of years and extremely precious. The sixth floor collects wooden Buddha statues, ceramic Buddha statues, jade Buddha statues, ivory Buddha statues, and gold and bronze Buddha statues from the Tang, Song, Ming, Qing dynasties and modern times. The art and culture hall on the seventh floor exhibits Buddhist paintings from the Song, Ming, Qing dynasties and modern times. Opening hours: Open all year round, Tuesday to Sunday, 8:00 – 17:00.
