The mountain is abundant in stones, with superior stone quality, and has always been a quarry base, hence it is also known as the Stone-Hitting Mountain. Ascending to the summit of the verdant Shenggui Mountain, one can overlook the southern part of Yao City, witnessing the crisscrossing fields, the winding roads, the towering buildings, and the racing vehicles and boats. The bustling scenery is all within sight.
There used to be a temple dedicated to General Liu on Shenggui Mountain, which worshipped Liu Laozhi, a general of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, Fu Chu Academy was added in front of the temple. In the early Wanli period, a monk transformed the temple into Lingyan Zen Temple, commonly known as Shenggui Mountain Temple. In recent years, it has been renovated and renamed Lingyan Zen Monastery. It is open all year round from 7:00 to 16:30.
