Shipu Old Street

Shipu Old Street is a rare ancient architectural complex of fishing villages in the Ming and Qing Dynasties across the country, hence its name. Shipu Old Street was built in the Ming Dynasty and is also known as Zhongjie. It developed in the Qing Dynasty and has a history of more than 600 years. Originally, it was a very prosperous commercial street with more than 100 stores such as silk and cloth stores, shoe stores, copper stores, and drugstores. It is composed of Wanxing Street, Fujian Street, Zhongjie, Houjie, and Yanchang Street. After renovation, Shipu Old Street maintains the architectural style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The five ‘fireproof gates’ built across the street, the former site of Shipu Patrol Department Yamen and the old stores on both sides are all of high ornamental and research value.
