Shitian Square is located at the end of the old street in Xizha, adjacent to the open-air water theater. Originally used for silk merchants to dry silkworm cocoons, silk threads, and silk tools, it is also known as the ‘Silk Field Square’ among the locals. Surrounded by ancient silk factories, shops, and guesthouses.

During the restoration in 2008, many inscriptions of poems by famous people from Wuzhen were engraved in various places on the square, hence the name ‘Shitian Square’.
