Sun Yat-sen Memorial Museum, Macau

Located next to the Global Hotel at No. 1 Van Dries Street, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Museum is a three-story Moorish-style building. The entire structure is elegant and solemn, with a beautiful shape, surrounded by a short wall, and a small garden on the left side where Mr. Sun liked to sit during his lifetime. Today, a full-length bronze statue of the Founding Father stands here along with the four large characters ‘All Under Heaven for the Public’. The interior decoration retains its original appearance, and the furnishings are all cultural relics and furniture used by Mr. Sun when he served as the Grand Commandant in Guangzhou. Additionally, there are some genuine handwritings of the Founding Father and precious photos from his lifetime, including group photos with revolutionary predecessors, which are also collected here. The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Museum was built in 1918 as a residence for Mr. Sun’s family and was reconstructed in 1930 due to being affected by an explosion at the nearby Governor’s official residence’s ammunition depot. After the death of Mr. Sun’s original wife, Mrs. Lu Muzhen, the residence was renamed to its current name in 1958. Open all year round, Monday, Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00. Service facilities include accessible restrooms.
