Tiantai Mountain – Tongbo Palace

Tongbo Palace is located approximately 20 kilometers northwest of the county town on Tongbo Mountain, surrounded by nine peaks and a clear stream flowing in front, it is the ancestral court of the Southern School of Taoism in China. Upon entering Tongbo Palace through the poker mountain gate, one encounters the Lingguan Hall, Zhenwu Hall, Imperial Stele Pavilion, Main Hall, and Ziyang Building in sequence. There are ancillary halls on both sides. To the left of the Main Hall is the Tai Chi Hall, which worships Ge Xianweng (Xuan), and to the right is the hall that worships the Right Assistant True Lord Wang Zijin. The Ziyang Building houses a statue of Zhang Boduan, with three rooms on either side. The Eastern and Western Taoist courtyards each have three rooms front and back, connected by corridors. Dormitories and kitchens are located outside the walls. There are a total of a hundred halls and more than eight hundred shi of incense fields. The tenth generation of the Dragon Gate sect, Qing Yu (Dongli), presides over the temple, assisted by his disciples Fang Yiding (Lanpi), Min Yide (Lanyun), and dozens of others in managing the temple affairs. The Southern School’s ancestral court flourishes. In 1973, the Tongbo Reservoir was completed and filled with water, submerging the site of Tongbo Palace, and some buildings and cultural relics were moved to Minghe Temple. The temple is open all year round from 8:00 to 16:00.
