Tianyou Peak is located to the north of Liquxi in the Nine-Bend Stream of Wuyishan Scenic Area and is at the central position of the scenic area. It is very famous. Almost every tourist visiting the landscapes of Wuyishan will visit Tianyou Peak. Because here you can appreciate the spectacular scene of the Nine-Bend Stream surrounding Wuyishan from more angles. Tianyou Peak is suitable for visiting in the morning, especially on a rainy morning, as the chance of seeing the sea of clouds is relatively high at this time. The origin of its name is also because when there is a sea of clouds, on Tianyou Peak, it is as if being in a fairyland and roaming in the heavenly palace, hence the name ‘Tianyou’. Tianyou Peak is divided into upper and lower parts. To the left of Yilan Pavilion is the upper Tianyou; after descending the rugged hill and along the area of Huma Stream is the lower Tianyou. Yilan Pavilion on the upper Tianyou is close to the cliff and is an excellent viewing platform for the landscapes of Wuyishan. Looking around from here, the landscapes of Wuyishan are all in sight. Generally, tourists like to move forward to Chadong and climb the main path. It takes about one and a half hours to go up and down. Those who like challenges can also consider taking the path from Jiesun Peak to ascend to Tianyou. The road is steeper and more time-consuming and laborious. You can decide whether to climb to the top according to your physical strength. If you can’t climb anymore, you can return by the same way after reaching Banshan Pavilion. The road after Banshan Pavilion starts to be steep. Because someone once held a dance party on Tianyou Pavilion at the top of the mountain, there are wax figures there, but the quality is ordinary. There are simple meals and beverages for sale at the top of the mountain, but the prices are relatively expensive and the taste is average. So it is recommended to bring your own dry rations. After climbing to the top, there is no need to return by the same way. There are several paths behind the mountain that can be taken. The forest is quiet and secluded, with a unique flavor. On the stone walls beside the stream along the way, there are many inscriptions on precipices from past dynasties. When reaching beside the Nine-Bend Stream at the foot of the mountain, don’t forget to look back at the Sunning Rock at the foot of Tianyou Peak. This is a relatively large rock in Wuyishan Scenic Area.
